Games Start this Saturday 9/6
What a terrific kick-off for the 2008 season! We hope all of you and your family and friends enjoyed the fun of Opening Ceremonies. Thank you to Ken Morton, Jr. who is the Events Coordinator for the Club. Congratulations to the Disney Dollars Raffle winners! Thank you to all who helped sell and/or purchased the tickets. The money from the ticket sales goes towards the free-fun of Opening Ceremonies and to the Club's Financial Aid Program and helps to off-set the costs of keeping Rocklin Youth Soccer Club a wonderful part of our community. The team banners were fantastic. I know the judges had a hard time picking the winners. Congratulations, Sneaki Tikis!
Please remember that our players are not professionals and our coaches are volunteers. Playing soccer should be fun. The first games are always full of anticipation and excitement. Please keep it positive. It is going to be HOT out there. Make sure the players have lots of water and find shade where they can.
We are still working on getting all of the referees scheduled for the games in Rocklin on this first Saturday. There are bound to be a few glitches. There is always the chance that a few of our younger Rec games may not have referees or that the olders' games may be short on referees. This is one of the reasons why each off-season you hear the Board plea for more (especially adults) folks to become referees. We ask that you work with us and understand that sometimes things happen that are out of our hands. Hopefully any "oops" from this week will be remedied by next Saturday.
Thank you again for your support of the Rocklin Youth Soccer Club.

Rec Team News Newsflash : When will we hear about practices and games?
A lot of people ask about when they will hear about practice times, locations, and league start etc.

Practices for recreational teams will begin in early August. The coaches will choose their practice times (most often weekday evenings) in late July. You will hear from a coach no later than August 15.

The league games begin Saturday 9/6. The games run 5 weeks and then there is a bye for one week followed by 5 more games.

There are no game times set until the league puts together the schedule (typically the week before the start of the season). So we have nothing to post until the league releases the schedule to all clubs. Your coach will let you know the times and locations for all of your games. Game start times range from 9:00am-4:00pm.

As far as locations go, RYSC uses most of Rocklin's city parks and many of the school fields as well.

Thank you for your interest in RYSC,
Angie Langstrom
President, RYSC 2008

Coaches News Newsflash : Recreational Team Schedules - MysoccerLeague.com
Coaches and Parents,

On the Rocklin Club website we only publish games that are being played in Rocklin. This is for our Rocklin Referee Coordinators to communicate games that have, or still need, Referees assigned to them. This enables our pool of certified Referees to request games and check their schedules.

The official League webpage where you will find the schedule for Recreational games is http://www.mysoccerleague.com and anyone can login as a guest to find all of their team’s games.

The LEAGUE you need to select is the PLACER YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE and you need to know what Age group, Gender, and Division your team plays in to find your schedule.

Please note that Select and CPL (U16/U19 Rec) games are not on MysoccerLeague.com this season.

Coaches News COACHES PLEASE FOLLOW RYSC POLICY AND USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT!
There is no way that the Coach Coordinators can monitor all of the practices so we ask that you coaches please follow the RYSC policy and always use your best judgment when it comes to weather (primarily heat) and air quality and the holding of practices. Each season we receive numerous messages from concerned parents. It is up to you coaches to check the websites below as well as the RYSC website to monitor any updates and make the right choice. Of course the ultimate decision belongs to the parents. This is the policy:
Air Quality/Temperature
Air quality policy: At 127 AQI or more based on information by www.sparetheair.com then practices shall either be cancelled or if practice is conducted then a limited “walk through” or “chalk talk” policy will be implemented. At 151+ AQI all practices must be cancelled for all age groups.
Temperature policy: For all RYSC recreation and select teams if the temperature is 100 degrees or more based on information by www.kcra.com/weather/index then practices shall either be cancelled or if practice is conducted then a limited “walk through” or “chalk talk” policy will be implemented. At 105+, all practices must be cancelled for all age groups.
THANK YOU!
